I debated whether to include this link in the Infographic section of this site or here.  The first interactive infographic is very clever and it is quite informative regarding the lobbying efforts to shape the final regulations under Dodd-Frank. Strategy 1 – DB Announces Plan to meet Basel III Leverage Ratio

DB’s strategy is focused on shrinking its assets and issuing hybrid securities.  BaFin estimates that Germany’s two largest banks (DB and Commerz) were €14b short of Basel III capital at the end of last year compared to €32b at the end of June 2012.

It is not all about bank capital

You might think it was all about bank capital reading the press and listening to the public pronouncements of regulatory officials.  Here are a few other things going on:

1.  Volker Rule:  July 21 is the end of the conformance period for bank compliance with the Volker Rule.  Here is what it means…

2.  Dodd Frank:  Also on July 21, the Dodd Frank Act turns 3 years old. Happy Birthday! Don’t expect an end to the terrible twos.  Davis Polk issues a terrific monthly summary of implementation progress.  It is not a pretty picture for the developmentally challenged Act.
